Native perennial clumping grass. One of the most widely distributed species of grass in the US and an important host for wildlife, particularly skippers. Vibrant blue-green foliage in summer, developing shades of copper and crimson into winter. Fluffy white seed heads. Grows 2-4' high and tolerates both moist and dry soils, erosion, rocky soils, and black walnut. Full sun. One of the "Big Four" grasses that make up the backbone of North American grasslands and prairies.
